About genetics risk assessment

Main Line Health’s Risk Assessment and Counseling programs are offered at multiple locations in the Philadelphia region and available to anyone concerned about potential health risks due to a personal or family history.

We offer testing for certain types of cancer genetics and cardiovascular disease as well as prenatal testing for those planning to grow their families. With your provider's guidance, you can learn if you're likely to develop these conditions or likely to pass them down to your children.

Our team of certified genetic counselors are available to:

  • Review your relevant personal, family and pregnancy history and any prior test results
  • Describe potential health risks
  • Discuss pros, cons and limitations of testing options
  • Coordinate appropriate testing and interpret results
  • Identify other at-risk family members
  • Discuss screening or risk management options
  • Identify supportive and informational resources

Whatever the results of your tests may reveal, we’re also dedicated to supporting you with the resources you need. We provide referrals to specialists, follow-up visits and support groups so you can feel confident, comforted and armed with as much health knowledge as possible.
