Bryn Mawr, PA — Main Line Health’s excellence in using digital technology to improve patient care and safety has earned Digital Health Most Wired recognition from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) for the 12th straight year.

The system maintained its annual high rankings in CHIME’s annual Digital Health Most Wired survey, receiving Level 8 certification for both acute and ambulatory care.

“We are always evaluating our digital infrastructure to see where changes can be made that will have a positive impact on patient health and safety,” said Luke Olenoski, Chief Information Officer, Main Line Health. “Given the rate of advancement in information technology, it’s vital to stay on top of developments and implement initiatives that fit our needs. I’m proud of the efforts of our entire team to ensure we are among the best health care organizations in the nation when it comes to IT.”

Nicole Kellett, Associate Vice President, Strategic Project Office, said Main Line Health has made several advances over the last year in leveraging the use of digital healthcare, such as optimizing hospital bed availability through the Systemwide Virtual Care Operations Center (VCOC).

“The VCOC has improved our capacity management through the use of real-time data and dashboards,” Kellett said. “The VCOC has also significantly improved communication, collaboration, and transparency across all patient flow departments.”

In addition, the Virtual Buddy Remote Patient Monitoring System allows Main Line Health to utilize staff and financial resources more effectively while maintaining patient safety and enhancing the patient experience, she said. The system established a safe and efficient alternative process to meet bedside one-to-one patient observation requirements.

Main Line Health has also made many security enhancements, said Aaron Weismann, Chief Information Security Officer.

“Our Enterprise Security and Governance Risk and Compliance teams have made consistent progress over the last few years through our continued efforts and focus on enhanced auditing, communication, esting with simulated cyberattacks, staff training, and risk management and mitigation,” Weismann said.

Among the more than 38,000 organizations surveyed by CHIME, Main Line Health ranked above peers in categories like analytics and data management, population health, infrastructure, and patient engagement. The survey assessed the adoption, integration and impact of technologies in health care organizations at all stages of development, from early development to industry-leading.

“We are proud to honor your team’s exceptional dedication to excellence in digital health,” said CHIME President and CEO Russell P. Branzell. “Your pioneering performance in the industry inspires other organizations by example. Patients in communities around the world receive better care when you drive change through digital transformation, as you have proven through your success in this rigorous program.”
