Bryn Mawr Hospital Receives Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) Re-certification Accreditation
Bryn Mawr, PA — The American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) recently awarded a Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) re-certification accreditation to Bryn Mawr Hospital for its Bariatric Surgery Program and Comprehensive Weight and Wellness Programs.
A MBSAQIP accreditation formally acknowledges Main Line Health’s commitment to providing and supporting quality improvement and patient safety efforts for metabolic and bariatric surgery patients. Through this accredited program, Main Line Health continues to meet the needs of our patients by providing multidisciplinary, high-quality, patient-centered care.
Under the direction of Richard Ing, MD, medical director of the Bariatric Surgery Program at Main Line Health and alongside Stephanie McKnight, MD, an obesity medicine specialist and Samantha Witte, MD, a metabolic and bariatric surgeon, the programs offer patients the opportunity to achieve a healthy weight and manage an overall healthy lifestyle through evidence-based medical and surgical approaches.
“It is a wonderful achievement to once again be recognized by the ACS and the ASMBS for the dedicated work of our exceptional staff in meeting the needs of our patients and community through our Bariatric Surgery program and Comprehensive Weight and Wellness program,” says Dr. Ing. “Our programs are designed as preventative methods that focus on longevity to resolve chronic health conditions such as diabetes, sleep apnea, hypertension and more. This helps reduce the risk of future heart disease, stroke and cancer as well as customizing plans of action to help our patients meet and sustain their wellness goals.”
A key objective of the Main Line Health’s Comprehensive Weight and Wellness program is the whole person approach the program takes with each patient. It consists of an interdisciplinary team of medical weight loss specialists, including a bariatrician, bariatric surgeon, bariatric nutritionists, nurses who specialize in medically monitored weight loss and surgical weight loss, exercise physiologists, as well as behavioral health counselors. The program focuses on achieving and maintaining a healthy weight with a commitment to improving the patient’s overall health and quality of life.
“We are so pleased to have received this re-certification accreditation and are extremely proud to offer these programs to our patients and our community. Our unique programs emphasize education and preparedness and provide resources to our patients that help them prioritize a healthy lifestyle for the long-term,” says Dr. McKnight.
