Hospital Community Partnerships

Hospital community partnerships at Main Line Health

We are focused on improving and enhancing the health of our community — but we cannot do it alone. Hospital community partnerships allow us to collaborate with other organizations to better serve the needs of those in the area.

Here are some of the ways we’re partnering with the community to promote better health and wellness:

  • Mock Crash Program—Main Line Health participates in Mock Crash, a program held in partnership with State Farm. The program is geared toward students and helps them understand the life-threatening dangers of distracted driving. Bryn Mawr Rehab, part of Main Line Health, participates by offering a speaker from the Cruisin’ Smart program to speak about the devastating effects of distracted driving and driving under the influence.
  • Health fair participation, including Clover Market—All four of Main Line Health’s acute care hospitals participate in numerous annual health fairs throughout the region. We also attend Clover Market — a seasonal open-air market featuring a rotating lineup of more than 100 vendors. Community Health and Equity provides useful and helpful health-related information at several of the Clover Markets held in Bryn Mawr each spring and fall.
  • Chester County Food Bank—Horticulture therapy patients at Bryn Mawr Rehab practice motor skills by gardening, and we’re able to donate excess produce to Chester County Food Bank. Through a network of 120 partner agencies, the Chester County Food Bank distributes 2.7 million pounds of fresh food each year, including donations from Bryn Mawr Rehab’s horticultural therapy harvest.
  • Prescribe a Trail—In partnership with Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, Main Line Health providers have been advocating for healthier lifestyles through Prescribe-a-Trail, a program in which Philadelphia-area hospitals and health care organizations lead outings on local trails to promote exercise, good nutrition and healthy lifestyles.

Hospital community partnerships at Lankenau Medical Center

At Lankenau Medical Center, we collaborate with partners in the community who are working toward our shared vision of building a culture of health.

This culture not only includes physical health, but also a focus on total well-being. We are committed to working together to address the underlying causes of chronic medical conditions, including a lack of access to affordable healthy food.

We believe that our approach to improving community health through hospital community partnerships sets us apart — and benefits our patients and our community in many ways.

Our hospital community partnerships include:

  • Cafeteria Farmstand in partnership with Common Market and Aramark brings fresh and locally grown produce to our hospital once a week.
  • The Food Trust works with partners like the Philadelphia Department of Public Health's Get Healthy Philly initiative to create a comprehensive solution to the issue of food access in our community.
  • Good Food, Healthy Hospitals is an initiative to transform Philadelphia’s hospital food environment and bring healthier options to thousands of employees, visitors and patients. This reflects our commitment to preventive care and an opportunity to reduce the risk of chronic disease for thousands of Philadelphians.
  • Greener Partners creates community farms and mobile education programs that increase and strengthen public access to fresh, seasonal and local food, especially for those in need. Through its farm-to-hospital collaboration with Lankenau Medical Center, Greener Partners is taking a new approach to preventive health care by growing fresh food for patients in need, along with educating young people about the joys of healthy eating.
  • Together for West Philadelphia is a community partnership of organizations across the Philadelphia region dedicated to ensuring that equitable care and opportunity is accessible to all.

By building hospital community partnerships and working to establish programming about steps people can take to prevent health issues, we are bringing nutrition education and health prevention directly to the people who need it the most.
